Does Wealth alone define a Man?

"Society is broken" my Gran would often say "and it will likely get worse".
She was never a gloomy person and certainly no Prophet. What She had was the ability to assess and then predict.
She was part of a generation that had seen the toughest of times. My Grandad had lost His hand in the worst of Wars the World has ever seen.
He died when I was quite young but I remember a quiet but resilient Man.
What they would make of todays Society is hard to say but it would be clear that things had not Improved in the World of opportunity promised to all.
Some of course have done well. They are usually the ones telling us all, in case we had not noticed.
Wealth is the new measurement used to define a person....but of course Its just an Illusion.
Character was a big factor in my Grandparents generation.
When I grew up, being boastful was much less acceptable.Wealth was more hidden.
These days, missing a holiday or wearing un-branded trainers, leads people to therapy!
Then we publish the "Rich List" each year to signify the best of them all. Surely proof of an ailing Society that lacks realistic balance.
Character seems to be the benefit of struggle. Its in the North East and places like Barnsley.
I never judge anyone but its pretty clear young ones today are in the throes of the worst of times.
Will they become a lost society?
Personally I think more character is needed in Society and less people looking down their noses on others.
It might be better of course if wealth was of benefit to all but it seems that formula has not yet been cracked.
Equality is not likely to break out soon. Some would not wish it.
Education will be needed....not just for those without, but as much for those with more.
In the end a Man is never measured by His wealth but a Man who used His wealth for more than just His own comfort, will have cause to be remembered.
Here today....Gone tomorrow. Its as true of Money as it is of Life.....so never take them for granted.
