Its funny how with time you realise the value of "Hindsight".
Someone once said that life has a habit of asking you take the exam before teaching you the subject!
As a young Man i worked for the Burton Group.
My Manager was a Bowler Hatted Man called Eric Earlston.
To say he seemed impossible to please is an understatement.
Retirement was not far away and i clung to the thought to give me endurance.
I loved my job but intensely disliked His harsh methods, particularly since i got more than my fair share.
The day finally came and i was taken by surprise when He invited me to join others at His home to mark the occasion.
Well, it was a celebration finally for me so one final act of respect could do no harm could it?
To say i was out of place with these oldies was clear to me.
Suddenly He invited me to join Him in His front lounge and asked me to sit down.
All these years on its vivid in my mind.
He asked if He had left me feeling hard done by?
When i said yes His reply left me both 12 feet tall and one inch small at the same time.
"I did it to help you" He said. "I see something in you that even you dont yet. I needed to push you and i know it was hard but with the time i had,i needed to make you ready for a promising career. One day you will see it".
I went on to become the youngest Branch Manager in Manchester area, breaking untold trading records.
I never forgot the importance of investing in others to achieve.
My way was never so harsh but i did get to see the good outcomes.
I remember Him often.
