Its no secret to anyone that I think Barnsley Folk are special.
People amuse themselves by suggesting its that place between Sheffield and Leeds.
On one level its funny but on another it betrays Ignorance.
Townfolk are good humoured and committed to their Community.
Whatever the National or Global Issues outside Barnsley, this former Mining Community know how to care.
We have the best College in the UK.
We have the best Hospital Staff.
I saw a Nurse recently put Her arm around a Patient and apologise for struggling to pronounce their surname.
We are not grand....but really grounded and sensitive to people we look after.
Today I learned of my Election as a Governor of Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Run by the Community for the Community, Staff try to take the anxiety away from Patients with genuine care and reassurance.
We do not hear enough of the uplifting stories of a Hospital and I will encourage people to celebrate their success with others.
Top College, Top Hospital, Top People...and I get to work with them for the benefit of everyone.
I call that a Top Privilege.
